Beirut – Lebanon and Israel have agreed to nominate Britain, Italy, Switzerland, and Indonesia as potential contributors to a proposed verification mechanism for Hezbollah’s disarmament in Southern Lebanon, according to informed sources. Consequently, these discussions highlight ongoing diplomatic efforts to establish a robust monitoring framework aimed at maintaining regional stability along the southern border.

Furthermore, sources noted that combining European and Asian nations aims to secure broad international acceptance for the mechanism. As a result, multilateral consultations continue to define the exact operational scope and monitoring boundaries for each participating state.

Mandate Definition and State Authority Reinforcement

On the other hand, officials emphasized that negotiations remain in their early stages, leaving room for structural adjustments before reaching a final consensus. Additionally, the framework prioritizes reinforcing Lebanese state authority and restricting weaponry to official state institutions across Southern Lebanon.

Consequently, international stakeholders are working to outline precise operational mandates and powers for participating nations despite complex political and security challenges. Ultimately, these measures seek to establish an impartial verification structure to ensure compliance.

Finally, the nomination of these four countries reflects a mutual effort to build international oversight for future security arrangements. Ultimately, political consensus and adherence from all involved parties will determine the success of the verification mechanism and long-term regional stability.
