Voice of the Emirates – Recent reports published by Business Insider indicate that Meta, the technology giant and owner of Facebook and Instagram platforms, has decided to postpone its plans to launch its flagship Mixed Reality glasses, which have a slim, regular-looking design and are known as Phoenix.

Meta was expected to launch the advanced glasses in 2025. However, reports now indicate that the new target launch date has been postponed to 2027.

This delay comes as Meta continues to invest heavily in developing virtual and augmented reality hardware and software. This is part of its vision to build the “Metaverse,” and the Phoenix headset is a key element of this vision. It is designed to be a more comfortable and integrated alternative to current virtual reality headsets.

The delay points to the significant engineering and technical challenges companies face, particularly in manufacturing mixed reality headsets that are lightweight, powerful, and consumer-friendly. Despite the postponement of this model, Meta is expected to continue developing and releasing updated versions of its existing Quest headset during the transition period.

The global market is eagerly awaiting these products, especially given the increasing competition in this field, most notably the Apple Vision Pro.
