  • British reports and security warnings

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – In a serious security development threatening maritime navigation and global energy supplies, two supertankers were simultaneously attacked by unidentified projectiles within minutes of each other while transiting the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Maritime security consultancy Marisks reported that the supertanker Sidr, operated by Saudi Arabia’s Bahri, sustained a direct hit while sailing northeast of Khasab, Oman. The attack occurred amidst unclear circumstances and escalating regional tensions.

Details of the double attack on the two ships

In a related incident, the consulting firm confirmed that another oil tanker, the Senegal Prosperity, operated by Sinocor, was also struck by three projectiles of unknown origin while sailing off the eastern coast of Oman. Maritime tracking data from Marex indicated that both vessels were departing the Arabian Gulf. The ships had transited the Strait of Hormuz before the attacks. As of yet, neither Bahri nor Sinocor has issued an official statement in response to inquiries from news agencies regarding the circumstances of the incident.

British reports and security warnings

For its part, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) quickly issued a security alert, stating that it had received a formal report from a tanker indicating that it had been struck by three unidentified projectiles while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. However, the agency did not disclose the trade name of the affected vessel in that initial statement, reflecting the heightened state of alert in the vital waterway.
