Washington, DC – The Washington Post revealed in a report that the United States is making extensive preparations for a full-scale military confrontation with Iran, as part of bolstering American combat capabilities. Washington has begun transferring squadrons of fighter jets and refueling aircraft from military bases in Europe to the Middle East. This move signals an unprecedented strategic escalation.
Air reinforcements deployed in response to the killing of soldiers
The newspaper quoted a senior US official as saying that “the United States is preparing for large-scale military operations against Iran while simultaneously bolstering its military presence in the region.” The official emphasized that these air reinforcements are a pressing necessity given the escalating tensions. This comes particularly after a series of attacks targeting US forces, resulting in casualties among American soldiers.
These reinforcements coincide with official reports from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which earlier confirmed the deaths of two American soldiers in Jordan. Unidentified remains were later found at the same location. Iraq also witnessed another incident in which a U.S. soldier was killed when his position was struck by an Iranian drone.
Towards an open confrontation
These military actions reflect a fundamental shift in the American position, as Washington seeks to impose a stronger deterrent and secure its bases and allies in the region from escalating threats. These moves come amid frequent reports indicating that the White House has decided to proceed with plans aimed at comprehensively undermining Iranian military capabilities. This follows the exhaustion of limited diplomatic efforts to contain the escalating situation on the ground.
This news comes at a sensitive time for the region, coinciding with the ninth consecutive night of US airstrikes. This places the Middle East on the brink of a new phase of direct confrontation that could shift the balance of power. The US administration has so far remained tight-lipped about the details of future operations, merely asserting that the additional military presence aims to protect US interests and ensure the stability of international navigation in vital waterways.
