Sulaymaniyah, Iraqi Kurdistan – At dawn on Monday, drones launched an air attack targeting the headquarters and camps of the Komala Toilers Party of Kurdistan in the Surdash region within the borders of the Sulaymaniyah Governorate in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. This led to the outbreak of massive fires without any human casualties being recorded.
Details of the security attack in Sulaymaniyah
The Kurdistan Region Security Directorate in Iraq stated in an official statement that the camp was targeted in the early morning hours, specifically during a brief period of approximately twenty minutes between 4:45 AM and 5:05 AM. The security agency confirmed that the incident, despite its seriousness and gravity, did not result in any loss of life. No injuries were reported among the civilians residing in the camp.
Accusations against the Komala party and mounting losses
For its part, the Kurdistan Toilers’ Association (Komala Party) stated that the attack targeting the Surdash camps originated from Iranian territory. Describing the attack as violent, they noted that it resulted in fires breaking out in several homes and offices belonging to the association. According to their records, the number of missiles and drones targeting the association’s headquarters and camps since the beginning of the conflict between Iran and the United States has exceeded 108.
It is worth noting that the Surdash camp, located in the Dokan district, specifically in the Biban sub-district, houses families and headquarters belonging to Iranian Kurdish opposition parties. These sites have been subjected to repeated attacks since the escalation of regional tensions. Amid reports indicating that Iranian drones are behind these attacks, security authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident.
