Tehran, Iran – In a striking development reflecting escalating military and political tensions, the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Ahmad Vahidi, likened the ongoing military confrontation between Iran and the United States to the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s. In remarks made on Saturday, he asserted that Iranian forces are waging a decisive battle with strength and resolve.

Praise for the resilience of the armed forces

Major General Vahidi addressed a message of pride and admiration to the members of the Iranian Armed Forces, praising what he described as the “glory and greatness” demonstrated by the military establishment during six months of continuous struggle against what he called “the bloodthirsty enemies of humanity.” Vahidi stated that the steadfastness of the Iranian forces “has astonished the entire world and restored hope to the hearts of the oppressed striving for ultimate victory over the forces of injustice.” He added, proudly highlighting the field operations: “By relying on God Almighty, and by achieving victory in extremely difficult environmental and field conditions—whether in the scorching heat of the southern islands and their strategic coasts, or the bitter cold of the northern border highlands—and by executing successful offensive and defensive operations under a hail of fire, you have managed to bring to your knees the most heavily armed army in the history of mankind.”

A firm legal response to Trump’s threats regarding the Strait of Hormuz

In the same vein of sovereignty, the head of Iran’s judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, responded firmly to the controversial statements made by US President Donald Trump, in which he declared the Strait of Hormuz “American territory.” Mohseni Ejei categorically affirmed that Iran is the legitimate owner and sole ruler of the Strait of Hormuz. He also stressed that “any aggressor force that dares to enter this region will be completely destroyed.” Mohseni Ejei described the US president’s statements as “extremely ridiculous and based on superficial personal delusions.” He added defiantly, “The boots of arrogance and colonialism will never tread on the Strait of Hormuz.” Finally, he affirmed the readiness of Iranian forces to confront any attempt to infringe upon national sovereignty in the vital waters of the Gulf.
