Beijing, China – The Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China expressed their grave and profound concern regarding the US military and security project known as the “Golden Dome.”
In a joint political and military statement, they affirmed that this project poses a direct
and clear threat to the national security of both countries and to international strategic stability as a whole.
“The Golden Dome” is an unrestricted global system
The joint warning from Moscow and Beijing came after extensive
summit talks between the two countries’ leaders.
The statement said that both sides view the US “Golden Dome” project
as a serious challenge to the global military balance.
This is because it aims to create a comprehensive, multi-layered, and multi-domain global missile defense system,
unrestricted by any geographical or legal boundaries.
According to the statement, this system seeks to intercept and destroy any type of missile weapon.
This includes all classes of ballistic and cruise missiles belonging to those whom Washington designates as “peer adversaries.”
This occurs at all stages of their flight, even before launch from their land-based or sea-based platforms.
Consequently, this grants the United States a unilateral military advantage that undermines the principle of mutual deterrence.
Strengthening the comprehensive partnership in the shadow of the Beijing Summit
This firm strategic declaration was issued as part of the “Joint Statement
on Deepening Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Cooperation for a New Era.”
It was released by Russia and China following a round of official negotiations focused
on further strengthening the comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between the two countries.
The negotiations also aimed to deepen good-neighborly relations, friendship, and integrated economic and military cooperation.
This statement was formulated on the sidelines of the important official visit
of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Beijing, which began on May 19.
This visit reflects the extent to which bilateral relations between the two Asian giants have progressed
in the face of NATO and US military moves in their shared spheres of influence.
Furthermore, it demonstrates their desire to build a multipolar world order
that counters US efforts toward missile and defense dominance.
