Islamabad – In a firm response to the series of deadly terrorist attacks that recently targeted the Balochistan province, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the adoption of a single joint decision uniting civil and military leadership to permanently end terrorism in the country. This decisive announcement came while he chaired a high-level security meeting of the National Action Plan’s apex committee in Quetta, with the participation of the Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir.
Comprehensive Security Mobilization and Intensive Military Operations
Sharif explained that this emergency meeting is a direct response to the serious incidents witnessed in recent days, which resulted in loss of life among police, military personnel, and civilians. The Prime Minister revealed the security forces’ success in eliminating 54 terrorists while repelling these attacks, emphasizing the state’s commitment to continuing this war relentlessly until the last strongholds of extremism are eradicated, utilizing all available resources to achieve this strategic goal.
Accusations of Foreign Entities Fueling Violence
The Pakistani leadership’s statements were not limited to internal affairs; the Prime Minister directed explicit accusations at foreign entities, referring to India, of being behind the funding and arming of terrorist groups to destabilize the country. Sharif pointed out that cross-border attacks primarily target the Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, considering these maneuvers a desperate attempt to undermine the recent diplomatic and economic successes achieved by Islamabad.
Heavy Toll and a Firm Military Stance
These political moves coincide with the Pakistani military’s announcement regarding the toll of terrorist operations since the beginning of the month, which resulted in the deaths of 42 security personnel and civilians in a series of coordinated attacks and ambushes. In this context, the military leadership issued a stern warning to terrorists and their backers, affirming that security forces will deal with unprecedented firmness to crush these groups, restore security and stability in the western provinces, and stop the bloodshed that threatens Pakistan’s development trajectory.
