Tehran, Iran – Iranian television reported that security authorities have arrested 412 people in connection with the recent riots and unrest in Dezful, a city in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran.

State television quoted security sources as saying the arrests came in the wake of what it described as “riots and vandalism”.

It was punctuated by unauthorized gatherings and acts of violence targeting public and private property.

In addition to causing damage to a number of facilities and services in the city.

Restoring calm to Dezful

The sources explained that the security services were able to control the situation and restore calm to Dezful after the intervention of the security forces.

She noted that investigations are still underway to determine the circumstances of the events

and the role of each of those who were arrested, in preparation for taking legal action against those involved.

According to Iranian television, the authorities affirm their commitment to maintaining security and stability.

She stressed that she would not allow the disruption of public order or the endangerment of citizens’ safety.

While emphasizing the need to deal with cases in accordance with applicable legal frameworks.

The official report did not provide extensive details about the causes of the unrest.

It later developed into clashes and riots, which necessitated a large-scale security intervention.

Handling claims and complaints

In a related context, local officials called on the residents of Dezful to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities.

They stressed that legal channels and official institutions are the only way to address demands and complaints.

This is separate from violence or damage to public property.

These developments come amid tensions that some Iranian cities experience from time to time.

Authorities assert that they are facing what they describe as attempts to incite chaos,

while emphasizing the priority of maintaining security and stability, and protecting lives and property.

Investigations are ongoing to uncover all the circumstances surrounding the recent events in Dezful.
