Damascus, Syria – Syria and Iraq discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in several vital sectors and agreed to form a high-level joint coordination committee.
This comes as part of their efforts to develop relations between the two countries
and expand economic, security, and service-related cooperation.
Economic and service cooperation
The Syrian Foreign Ministry stated that the talks addressed strengthening cooperation in the energy, water, and agriculture sectors.
The two sides also discussed rehabilitating oil pipelines to support shared interests
and improve economic infrastructure between the two countries.
Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in development sectors.
They also stressed the need to work on removing obstacles hindering the implementation of joint projects,

Supreme Coordination Committee
The two sides agreed to form a high-level joint coordination committee
to oversee the implementation of agreements reached between Syria and Iraq.
In addition, the committee will work to strengthen communication and consultation mechanisms on issues of mutual interest.
