Sanaa,Yemen – Yemeni, Iranian, and regional sources revealed to Reuters a direct Iranian role in the recent military operations of the Houthi group in Yemen, noting that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps provided field support and operational guidance along the Red Sea coast.
Iranian Guidance and Advanced Weaponry Support
Sources stated that the recent Houthi operation on Yemen’s western coast, which led to control over the coastal city of Mokha, was guided by IRGC leaders as part of efforts to open a new front in the regional confrontation with the United States.
Intelligence indicates that Iran supplied the Houthis with funding, advanced weaponry, and tactical direction through senior officials, including commanders linked to the Quds Force, while Tehran denied directly commanding the group’s military operations.
Arms Deliveries and Escalating Maritime Threats
According to sources speaking to Reuters, Iran increased its supplies of advanced equipment and arms to the Houthis amid escalating attacks, including drones and missile systems, while facilitating the transport of weapons and personnel despite supply route restrictions.
