Damascus – Syria – Syrian Foreign Minister As’ad Al-Shaibani and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi renewed their condemnation of repeated Israeli attacks and incursions into Syrian territory, emphasizing the necessity of halting them amid ongoing tensions along Syria’s southern border.
Joint Condemnation of Violations
During a call between the two officials, both sides affirmed their rejection of continued Israeli military operations inside Syrian territory, stressing the imperative to respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while stopping measures that escalate regional tensions.
Safadi had previously reiterated Jordan’s condemnation of Israeli violations in Syria, highlighting his country’s solidarity with Damascus and support for its security and stability.
Warning Against Escalation Consequences
Al-Shaibani and Safadi warned that the continuation of Israeli aggression would carry severe ramifications for regional security and stability, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities and act to halt these attacks.
These statements coincide with persistent Israeli military movements across areas in southern Syria, drawing criticism from Damascus and international bodies for violating Syrian sovereignty.
Adherence to Diplomacy and UN Warnings
The two ministers underscored the importance of pursuing diplomatic efforts to address outstanding issues and achieve calm, aligning with the Syrian government’s focus on rebuilding the country and consolidating security and stability.
The Syrian and Jordanian positions coincided with UN warnings regarding ongoing Israeli military activity in southern Syria, where the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria noted that Israeli operations have become increasingly entrenched and called for an end to sovereign violations.
Damascus and Amman reaffirmed that continued escalation serves no efforts toward stability, stressing that ending attacks is essential for maintaining regional security and creating conditions to resolve pending files through diplomatic channels.
