Madrid, Spain – Spanish authorities have denied the authenticity of a report attributed to the country’s security services. The report alleged Morocco’s involvement in orchestrating the migrant influx to the city of Ceuta.

Combating human trafficking networks

The Spanish National Police confirmed that there is no official security report

accusing Morocco of planning or orchestrating the mass crossing into the city.

The police added that what has been circulating on this matter is not

based on any document issued by the security services.

This denial comes at a time when Madrid is trying to contain the fallout

from the Ceuta crisis and maintain its level of cooperation with Rabat.

This underscores the importance of cooperation, particularly on issues of migration,

border security, and combating human trafficking networks.

The migration issue between Spain and Morocco

Media reports sparked widespread controversy after citing a security document

accusing Morocco of being behind the influx of migrants into Ceuta.

Spanish authorities quickly denied the existence of such a document.

These developments highlight once again the sensitivity of the migration issue between Spain and Morocco.

This is all the more crucial given the importance of coordination between the two countries

to prevent the escalation of crises at their borders and to contain their political and security repercussions.
