Havana, Cuba – Former Cuban leader Raúl Castro has reportedly suffered a stroke, amid reports of his deteriorating health. This development has reignited the debate surrounding the future of Cuba’s leadership. The news comes at a time when Castro’s health is of great interest, given his historic role in Cuban politics. Furthermore, his influence on the political landscape continues despite his departure from executive positions.

Reports about his health have raised questions about the potential impact of his absence on decision-making circles in Havana, especially given the ongoing economic and political challenges facing the country. Raúl Castro, 95, succeeded his brother Fidel Castro as president of Cuba. He then handed over the presidency to Miguel Díaz-Canel in 2018, while retaining a prominent role within the Cuban Communist Party. Information regarding his health remains limited. Meanwhile, Cuban political and media circles are awaiting any official statements clarifying his health status and any related developments.
