  • The importance of enhancing critical thinking skills
  • Focus on understanding, analysis, and creativity

Paris, France – The French Minister of Education affirmed that artificial intelligence represents a major transformation in the relationship between humans and knowledge,

considering it to be of a historical significance comparable to the transformations brought

about by writing and printing in the ways information is acquired and transmitted.

He explained that artificial intelligence is not limited to facilitating access to information.

It can analyze, organize, summarize, and generate new content.

Therefore, this necessitates a re-evaluation of how humans learn and interact with knowledge.

The importance of enhancing critical thinking skills

The French Minister of Education pointed out that this development presents educational institutions with new challenges,

particularly given the ease with which students can use artificial intelligence tools for research,

assignments, and problem-solving.

He emphasized the importance of fostering students’ critical thinking skills

and teaching them how to verify information and review its sources.

Therefore, they should not rely solely on answers provided by smart devices without critical examination.

Conversely, artificial intelligence can offer significant opportunities for education.

It helps students understand complex topics and provides explanations tailored to their level.

Furthermore, it can support teachers in preparing materials and organizing the educational process.

Focus on understanding, analysis, and creativity

The use of this technology also necessitates the establishment of clear rules to protect student data

and ensure the responsible use of artificial intelligence within schools and universities.

The French Minister of Education believes that the real challenge is no longer accessing knowledge,

as it has become readily available.

Therefore, the ability to evaluate, understand, and select reliable information is paramount.

Thus, artificial intelligence may push the education system to focus more on comprehension, analysis, creativity,

and questioning, rather than the traditional reliance on memorization and information recall.
