Beirut, Lebanon — The US Embassy in Beirut declared that it is time for Hezbollah to take action in the best interest of Lebanon and its people by fully disarming and transferring its weapons to the state. US officials emphasized that establishing exclusive state authority over security and defense decisions is essential to long-term national stability. Furthermore, the declaration comes amid intensifying domestic political debates and mounting international pressure concerning the fate of Hezbollah’s military arsenal.

Accusations of Iranian Influence and Dialogue Refusal

The US Embassy asserted that Hezbollah refuses to engage in meaningful dialogue with the Lebanese government, the United States, or Israel because the movement receives its orders directly from Iran. In addition, the statement underscored that reliance on foreign direction undermines national sovereignty and compromises domestic stability. Consequently, Washington reiterated its call for unifying military authority strictly under official state institutions.

Domestic Debate and Lebanon’s Security Future

Meanwhile, the status of Hezbollah’s weaponry remains a core point of contention within Lebanese political circles, dividing advocates for state military exclusivity and supporters of the armed resistance model. As a result, Lebanese authorities continue searching for political frameworks to address weapon regulation while safeguarding national sovereignty and preventing further internal polarization.

Ultimately, the US statement underscores Washington’s persistent stance on prioritizing Lebanese state sovereignty. In conclusion, achieving durable stability in Lebanon hinges on building national consensus around state institution authority and insulation from regional rivalries.
