Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese Army Commander General Rudolph Haykal affirmed that the military institution is committed to implementing the framework agreement, despite the political and security challenges facing the country. He also stressed the importance of maintaining the understandings reached and working to overcome any obstacles that might hinder their implementation. Haykal stated that the Lebanese Army continues to carry out its duties in various regions, focusing on protecting security and stability and ensuring the safety of citizens. This comes amidst the delicate circumstances the country is experiencing and the escalating tensions in the region.
He noted that the current phase requires enhanced coordination among state institutions and adherence to solutions that guarantee stability and prevent the spillover of regional crises into Lebanon. He added that the existing challenges will not compel the military to abandon its commitments. He affirmed the continuation of work within the agreed frameworks, prioritizing the national interest and the protection of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
