Manama, Bahrain – Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani discussed ways to develop bilateral relations and enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields during a telephone call with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis. They also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common interest. The call addressed the level of relations between Manama and Athens and their ongoing development in the political, economic, and trade sectors. The importance of continuing joint efforts to serve mutual interests and open new horizons for partnership was also emphasized.
The two ministers also reviewed the latest developments in the region, in light of escalating tensions in several arenas and their repercussions on security and stability. They further discussed the impact of these tensions on international trade and navigation. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation on regional and international issues, particularly those affecting regional security, maritime routes, and the global economy, given the growing challenges posed by current crises.
The two ministers also discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation and coordination within the UN Security Council, given their respective memberships on the Council. They also exchanged views on a number of issues on the international stage. Bahrain and Greece seek to build upon their growing relations and expand areas of cooperation. This supports shared interests and strengthens political and economic ties between the two countries. The call comes at a time of rapid developments in the region, highlighting the importance of diplomatic action and coordination among nations to contain crises, support efforts to achieve security and stability, and maintain the flow of international trade and navigation.
