Muscat, Oman – The Sultanate of Oman confirmed that ongoing negotiations regarding maritime security and shipping in the Strait of Hormuz are progressing in a positive and constructive atmosphere. Consequently, this declaration underscores Oman’s central diplomatic role in facilitating regional de-escalation. Moreover, Oman is securing vital international energy corridors.

Furthermore, Omani authorities stressed that achieving sustainable security arrangements requires avoiding any provocative actions or military escalations that could derail discussions. As a result, Muscat warned that field friction in the strait risks undermining prospects for a comprehensive agreement. Such an agreement is designed to ensure regional maritime stability.

Condemnation of Maritime Attacks and Diplomatic Engagement

On the other hand, Oman expressed strong condemnation of repeated attacks on commercial vessels and oil tankers transiting international shipping lanes in the strait. Specifically, Muscat emphasized that safeguarding freedom of navigation and vessel transit remains a non-negotiable priority. This is needed for global trade continuity.

Additionally, the Sultanate urged all involved parties to prioritize diplomatic avenues and address grievances through designated negotiation channels. Consequently, insulating maritime corridors from operational disruptions remains essential to preventing broader energy supply crises and maintaining regional economic confidence.

Finally, Oman’s statements highlight the crucial role of quiet diplomacy in preserving maritime security across strategic chokepoints. Ultimately, the willingness of negotiating parties to exercise operational restraint will determine the success of the Strait of Hormuz peace talks.
