Moscow, Russia – The Kremlin asserted that the fighting with Ukraine could cease if Kyiv takes what it termed “appropriate decisions,” indicating the possibility of reaching a settlement to end the ongoing conflict, provided there is political will and concrete steps are taken on the ground.
The Kremlin spokesperson clarified that Moscow maintains its stated position on the need to address the root causes of the conflict, noting that the future of military operations largely depends on the decisions the Ukrainian leadership will make in the coming period.
He added that Russia is monitoring developments on the ground and in the political arena, stressing that any progress toward a ceasefire or the launch of a negotiating process requires the fulfillment of conditions that Moscow deems necessary for achieving a sustainable settlement.
These statements come as military clashes continue between Russian and Ukrainian forces, amidst intermittent diplomatic efforts and international calls to intensify efforts aimed at ending the war and returning to the negotiating table in order to de-escalate the conflict and achieve stability in the region.
