Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied recent allegations of drug use, asserting that the claims are baseless and part of a smear campaign aimed at discrediting him and damaging the reputation of the Ukrainian leadership amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Zelenskyy stated that the dissemination of such allegations falls within what he termed an “information war” waged by Moscow to influence public opinion, undermine Ukrainian citizens’ trust in state institutions, and weaken international support for Kyiv.

He added that the Ukrainian authorities are aware of the scale of the media campaigns waged against them and are addressing them by disseminating accurate information and maintaining transparency in their communication with citizens. He emphasized that the priority remains defending the country and confronting security and military challenges.

The Ukrainian president urged citizens not to be swayed by misleading news or rumors circulating on some online platforms and to rely on official sources and credible media outlets to verify information.

Zelensky’s remarks come amidst the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which, alongside military clashes, has witnessed an escalation in mutual media and propaganda campaigns. Both sides accuse each other of using disinformation to influence the course of the conflict and domestic and international public opinion.
