Damascus, Syria – The Internal Security Command in Rural Damascus Governorate launched an extensive security campaign covering several areas south of the capital, resulting in the arrest of 16 wanted individuals and the seizure of weapons, ammunition, and drugs.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior stated, in an official statement carried by news agencies, that these measures come within well-designed plans and precise follow-ups aimed at pursuing outlaws, curbing unlicensed weapons, and protecting public security in the region.

Precise Raids and Arrests of Wanted Individuals in Rural Damascus

The intensive security campaign targeted areas south of Damascus, including Babbila, Yalda, Beit Sahm, and Sayyidah Zainab, focusing on several wanted fugitives involved in various criminal cases.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that security units handled the designated targets according to pre-prepared plans, taking all necessary legal procedures against the detainees pending their referral to competent authorities for further investigation.

Seizure of Weapons, Ammunition, and Drugs

The raid and inspection operations resulted in the confiscation of various types of weapons and ammunition, alongside hand grenades and drugs found in the possession of the wanted individuals.

Security sources indicated, according to official media reports, that these seizures highlight the close connection between drug trafficking networks and criminal elements wanted by justice.

Ongoing Campaigns to Consolidate Security Stability

Syrian authorities stressed that their security campaigns and preventive measures will continue in Rural Damascus and other provinces to ensure no loopholes threaten citizens’ safety.

The relevant authorities also called on residents to cooperate continuously with security agencies and report any suspicious movements, emphasizing that achieving permanent stability requires true integration between official institutions and the local community.
