In a new achievement highlighting the capabilities of the Egyptian petroleum sector in international markets, a consortium of Egypt’s Petrojet and Enppi has won a long-term framework agreement for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) works with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the Sultanate’s largest oil and gas exploration and production company. This agreement paves the way for the consortium to compete for major projects with a total portfolio value exceeding $6 billion over the next six years.
The Egyptian Consortium Enters Global Competition
The success of the Egyptian consortium follows a rigorous qualification process, selecting Petrojet and Enppi among only four global alliances and contractors qualified to compete for PDO’s project portfolio through competitive tendering. This six-year agreement represents a significant leap in the external expansion path of Egyptian petroleum companies, underscoring the high technical expertise possessed by Egyptian engineers in managing and executing complex oil projects.
Regional Expansion and Strategic Partnership
This milestone falls within the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum’s strategy to strengthen the presence of its companies in foreign markets and export Egyptian engineering and technical services. The agreement is a direct result of joint cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and the Omani Ministry of Energy and Minerals, reflecting Oman’s confidence in Egyptian operational efficiency and the ability of Egyptian companies to adhere to global quality and safety standards in strategic projects.
Supporting Oman Vision 2040 and Local Value Added (LTV)
Under the agreement, the Egyptian consortium will not only focus on technical execution but will also support the “Local Value Added” objectives in Oman. The consortium will work on transferring technical expertise, training Omani engineering cadres, and enhancing the participation of local supply chains in project implementation, thereby boosting the Sultanate’s economic development in alignment with “Oman Vision 2040.”
