  • Quality is the Deciding Factor
  • The Role of the Charger and Authenticity
  • Conclusion

Many smartphone users believe that using a long charging cable always leads to slow battery charging. However, tech experts confirm that the answer is not absolute, as it depends on the cable length, manufacturing quality, and its ability to transfer electrical current efficiently.

Electrical Resistance and Length Impact

Specialists explain that longer cables possess higher electrical resistance compared to shorter cables, which may lead to energy loss during its transmission from the charger to the phone, especially if the cable is made of low-quality materials or contains thin wires that cannot handle high current.

Quality is the Deciding Factor

Conversely, high-quality long cables made to standard specifications usually do not cause a noticeable difference in charging speed, even with lengths reaching two or three meters, provided they support fast charging technologies and use wires of appropriate thickness. Experts indicate that the real impact often begins with extremely long or low-quality cables, where charging capacity may drop significantly due to increased wire resistance, leading to less power reaching the phone and extending the battery charging time.

The Role of the Charger and Authenticity

The charger’s capability itself plays a fundamental role in charging speed. If the charger does not support fast charging or has low power, changing the cable alone will not improve performance, even if the cable is short and high-quality. Manufacturers recommend using original or certified cables, as they are designed to withstand required electrical currents and provide maximum energy transfer efficiency while maintaining battery safety and reducing risks of overheating or damage to the charging port.

Conclusion

Experts emphasize that cable quality is far more important than its length. Choosing a certified cable that supports fast charging and features good materials ensures better performance and a longer lifespan for the phone and battery, while using a cheap or non-compliant cable may lead to slow or intermittent charging, and could eventually damage the cable or the device over time.
