Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukraine announced it had targeted 13 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov, including ten oil tankers. This marks a new escalation in attacks targeting Russian supply lines.
Kyiv says this is part of a campaign aimed at weakening the logistical capabilities of Russian forces.
The campaign also aims to create a fuel supply crisis.
Targeting oil tankers and support vessels
The commander of Ukraine drone force, Robert Provdi, stated that Ukrainian forces targeted 13 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov.
He explained that the targeted ships included ten oil tankers, a dry bulk carrier, and a ferry.
This was part of ongoing operations targeting Russian logistics infrastructure.
Provdi added, via Telegram, that these operations are part of a broader campaign
aimed at disrupting the fuel supply and operational capabilities of Russian forces.
Attacks on electricity facilities in Crimea
The Ukraine military official indicated that Ukrainian forces also launched attacks
during the night targeting five power substations in the Crimean peninsula, which is controlled by Russia.
This is a step targeting the infrastructure supporting the Russian military presence in the region.
In recent months, Ukraine has continued to expand the scope of its long-range attacks.
These attacks include energy facilities, ports, ships and supply lines within territory under Moscow’s control.
Mutual escalation in the war
These developments come amid ongoing military operations between the two sides.
Russia and Ukraine are exchanging attacks on vital infrastructure and military targets.
This coincides with an escalation in the use of drones and long-range missiles.
Russian authorities have not yet issued an official comment on the attacks announced by Kyiv.
Recent developments indicate a widening of the confrontation.
Ukraine is focusing on targeting logistical infrastructure
and the energy sector in an effort to reduce Russian military capabilities.
