Muscat, Sultanate of Oman – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman affirmed the importance of maintaining the security of waterways and ensuring freedom of navigation.
They also affirmed their support for efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region.
The two countries stressed the necessity of resolving disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.
This came during an official meeting held between Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan
and his Omani counterpart, Badr Al Busaidi, in the capital, Muscat.
Talks on regional security and the Strait of Hormuz
During the discussions, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the regional and international situation.
They also exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest.
Among these issues were developments related to the Strait of Hormuz.
The two ministers stressed the importance of protecting sea lanes
as a fundamental pillar for the stability of global trade and energy supplies.
In addition, they supported regional and international efforts
aimed at reducing tensions and enhancing security in the region.
Strengthening cooperation and joint projects
The two ministers reviewed bilateral cooperation and ways to develop it across various fields,
serving their mutual interests and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
They also discussed several joint projects, most notably the land border crossing between Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.
In addition, they discussed cooperation in the areas of transportation and logistics,
which will contribute to enhancing regional integration and facilitating trade between the two nations.
Expanding the economic partnership
The talks addressed opportunities to expand economic, trade,
and investment cooperation and encourage public-private partnerships.
The two sides also discussed capitalizing on investment opportunities in sectors of mutual interest.
This aligns with the aspirations of both countries’ leadership to strengthen bilateral relations.
Prior to the talks, the two ministers held a bilateral meeting,
during which they reviewed the fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting also explored prospects for developing joint cooperation
and supporting the Gulf Cooperation Council’s efforts.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Muscat on an official visit.
He was received by Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi,
in the presence of several senior officials from both sides.
