Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump announced that talks with Iran were temporarily suspended during the funeral of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
He indicated that both sides agreed to pause communications for a week before resuming negotiations.

Trump, in remarks reported by Axios, said he was following Khamenei’s funeral,
claiming that Iran was seeking an agreement with the United States.
He added that talks had been temporarily suspended until the funeral was over.
And he emphasized that there would be no exchange of fire between the two sides during this period.
He added that the suspension of communications was for humanitarian reasons.
He confirmed that negotiations would resume after the funeral.
Controversial statements
Trump claimed that Khamenei was killed on the first day of the war during a joint US-Israeli operation.
He also said he was surprised by the scenes of grief during the funeral.
And he asserted that the Iranian people opposed the late Supreme Leader.
He further indicated that Tehran was making efforts through various channels to reach a political agreement with Washington.
Large funeral processions in Iran
The Iranian capital, Tehran, is witnessing a massive funeral procession for Khamenei,
with a large public turnout and tight security measures.
Slogans calling for revenge were chanted during the ceremonies.
Meanwhile, arrangements are underway for burial ceremonies in several Iranian and Iraqi cities,
according to the program announced by the Iranian authorities.
