Beirut, Lebanon – The Lebanese government has condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist bombing that targeted the Syrian capital, Damascus, affirming its full solidarity with Syria, its leadership, and its people in the face of terrorist acts that threaten its security and stability. This stance reflects Lebanon’s commitment to rejecting all forms of violence and terrorism targeting civilians and vital facilities in neighboring countries.
Categorical Rejection of Terrorism and Condemnation of the Attack
The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants stated in an official declaration that Lebanon stands with Syria during these difficult circumstances, expressing heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and wishing a speedy recovery for all the injured. The ministry emphasized the necessity of bringing those responsible for this terrorist act to justice, stressing that such acts will only increase suffering and instability in the region.
Commitment to Syria’s Unity and Territorial Integrity
The Lebanese statement reaffirmed the position supporting Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, noting that terrorist attacks aim to undermine regional security as a whole. The ministry called on the international community to consolidate efforts to confront terrorist organizations and prevent the recurrence of such attacks that seek to destabilize security and affect innocent civilians in public facilities.
Calls for Strengthening Regional Cooperation to Combat Violence
Lebanese officials indicated that the current phase requires strengthening joint regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and dry up its sources. This position follows the bombing that took place in the Syrian capital, which resulted in a number of casualties and injuries, amidst a wave of broad Arab and international condemnations, and urgent calls for greater security and military coordination to preserve the security and stability of countries in the region in the face of growing threats.
