Baghdad, Iraq – Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Aboudi affirmed, during his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, that Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi’s government will not allow Iraqi territory to be used as a launchpad for any aggression targeting neighboring countries. This official stance was taken to dispel any concerns regarding the use of Iraqi land in regional conflicts.
Commitment to Good Neighborliness Policy
Al-Aboudi emphasized during the meeting the Iraqi government’s firm commitment to protecting the country’s sovereignty and preventing any actions that might threaten the security and stability of neighboring nations. He also stated that Baghdad follows a policy based on good neighborliness and explicitly rejects turning Iraqi territory into an arena for settling regional conflicts or international tensions.
Enhancing Regional Stability Through Coordination
The National Security Advisor explained that the Iraqi government places great importance on enhancing security and stability in the region and is keen to develop relations with neighboring countries based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs. He noted that this approach aims primarily at reducing regional tensions and ensuring the safety of shared borders.
Continuing Consultations Between Baghdad and Tehran
The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Iraq and Iran, along with several regional issues of common interest. Both sides stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation regarding current developments, in a way that supports regional security and stability and fulfills the interests of the people to live in peace and safety.
