New Delhi, India – The UAE participated in the BRICS Energy Ministerial Meeting, hosted by India. To discuss enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy security, energy sector transformation, innovation, and emerging technologies.
The UAE delegation to the meeting was headed by Eng. Sharif Al Ulama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, while energy ministers and heads of delegations from the group’s member states participated.
The UAE’s participation in the meeting comes within the framework of its firm approach to supporting multilateral action and strengthening international partnerships. And actively contributing to developing common solutions to global challenges. To consolidate its position as a reliable partner in building a safer, more sustainable and more resilient global energy system. It reflects its commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development and enhancing energy security.
The Undersecretary delivered the UAE’s speech during the ministerial meeting and participated in the launch of the BRICS Digital Center of Excellence for Smart Electricity Networks and Energy Storage. Aiming to enhance cooperation between member states in the fields of digitization and smart electricity networks. Energy storage solutions, capacity building, and knowledge sharing.
The UAE’s participation in launching the center reflects its keenness to support international initiatives that enhance knowledge exchange, develop advanced technical solutions, and build capabilities. This contributes to accelerating the transition towards more efficient and sustainable energy systems, and enhances cooperation between BRICS countries in future priority areas.
The meeting witnessed the launch of the BRICS report on hydrogen value chains, which the UAE actively contributed to preparing within the work of the BRICS Energy Group. It is one of the most prominent outcomes of the Indian presidency of the group, as it presents a common vision to enhance cooperation in developing the hydrogen economy. Supporting investment and innovation, and building integrated value chains for low-emission hydrogen.
During the meeting, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to work with its partners in the BRICS group to consolidate the approach of cooperation based on dialogue. Exchanging experiences and developing joint initiatives to support global energy security and promote sustainable development. It keeps pace with the rapid changes taking place in the energy sector at the international level.
