Doha, Qatar – Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments regarding the explosion at an industrial facility in Ras Laffan with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif during a telephone call. They also discussed several regional issues of mutual interest.

Condolences and solidarity with the victims

At the beginning of the call, the Emir of Qatar expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to Pakistan for the victims of the accident,

which resulted in the death and injury of a number of Pakistani citizens, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

For his part, the Pakistani Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the feelings of condolences and sympathy.

He also praised the health care provided to the injured and the efforts made

by the competent Qatari authorities in dealing with the repercussions of the accident.

Emphasis on joint cooperation

Both sides expressed their solidarity with the families of the victims,

emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation and coordination

between the two countries to serve the common interests of their friendly peoples.

They also reviewed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in various fields.

This comes amidst growing cooperation between Qatar and Pakistan at the political, economic, and investment levels.

Discussion of regional developments

The call addressed the latest regional developments, particularly those related to the memorandum of

understanding between the United States and Iran and its implications for regional security and stability.

The Pakistani Prime Minister commended Qatar’s efforts to support regional security and stability.

He also praised its role in promoting dialogue and advancing peace efforts in the region.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination on regional and international issues.

They affirmed that this contributes to supporting stability and enhancing opportunities for joint cooperation in the coming period.
