Beijing, China – The Chinese government has strongly opposed the United States’ decision to add several Chinese companies to a list related to the military sector. It considers the move a new escalation in economic and trade tensions between the two countries and believes it harms the climate of international cooperation.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the measure is “unjustified and based on political considerations.” It emphasized that the companies in question are engaged in legitimate civilian and commercial activities. It asserted that classifying them as military-related entities lacks both legal and factual basis.
The statement added that Beijing would take “necessary measures” to protect the rights and interests of its companies. It also noted that the continuation of such US policies would further complicate bilateral relations and could disrupt global supply chains.
This move comes amid a series of tit-for-tat actions between Washington and Beijing. These actions are taking place against a backdrop of escalating disputes over advanced technology, semiconductors, and trade in sensitive sectors. The issue also includes national security concerns, which the US has used to restrict the activities of some Chinese companies.
Economic circles believe the US decision could negatively impact Chinese companies’ investments in global markets. Beijing, for its part, sees these policies as aimed at slowing its industrial and technological growth.
China has affirmed that it will continue to defend its economic interests through diplomatic and legal channels. It also warned that any further escalation could be met with a “firm and proportionate” response.
