Damascus, Syria  – In a large-scale precautionary step to face tensions. Syria and Iraq announced the closure of their airspace to air navigation. This decision came following the recent Iranian missile attack. Which targeted sites inside Israel on Sunday evening. These measures aim to protect the safety of civil aviation. They come at a time when the region is witnessing major security disturbances.

On the other hand, the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority issued an official statement. It decided to close southern air corridors temporarily. This closure will last for 12 full hours. The decision took effect starting Sunday at 23:00. It will continue until 11:00 AM on Monday. It was also decided to suspend all operational activities at Damascus International Airport. This is to ensure the safety of passengers and all flight crews.

Similar Measures in Iraq to Ensure Aviation Safety

In a related context, Iraqi authorities took a similar measure. The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority announced a temporary airspace closure. Air traffic was suspended for all flights. The decision includes all arriving, departing, and transiting flights. This measure aims to maintain the security and safety of air traffic. Especially in light of the current dangerous field developments.

Furthermore, Iran announced the launch of a series of missile attacks. The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported the launch of about 10 ballistic missiles. This led to a state of comprehensive security alert in the region. These operations caused widespread regional tension.

Temporary Preventive Measures in Light of Field Developments

On another note, official statements from Damascus and Baghdad confirm. That these steps are only temporary preventive measures. They are subject to continuous and precise review. Situations are evaluated according to future field developments. Both countries place airspace security at the top of their priorities.

In conclusion, a state of anticipation remains the rule regionally. The international community is closely monitoring developments. The ultimate goal is to avoid any risks. That might affect the safety of civil aviation in this strategic region.
