  • Urgent UN calls for de-escalation and protection of civilians

Beirut, Lebanon – The United Nations announced that the death toll from the ongoing military operations in Lebanon since last March has risen to 4,329 dead and 12,233 wounded,

amid a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the various affected areas.

Disastrous humanitarian consequences and pressure on the health sector

The international organization explained that the ongoing fighting in Lebanon has caused extensive damage to infrastructure and vital facilities,

placing immense pressure on the health sector and aid teams working in the field.

The military escalation has also displaced thousands of families seeking safety,

while hospitals and medical centers struggle to meet the growing needs amid shortages of essential supplies.

Urgent UN calls for de-escalation and protection of civilians

In light of this escalating crisis, the United Nations reiterated its urgent calls

for adherence to international humanitarian law and the full protection of civilians.

The organization also stressed the importance of ensuring the safe

and rapid flow of humanitarian aid to all affected areas and the need

for immediate de-escalation to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian crisis and avoid more casualties in Lebanon.
