Rabat, Morocco – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set the date for the preliminary round draws for the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, signaling the start of the new edition of the two continental competitions.
The Moroccan newspaper Al-Botola reported that the draw ceremony will take place in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on August 6, in the presence of representatives of the participating clubs, in order to determine the preliminary round matches in the two tournaments.
Zamalek and Pyramids are expected to participate in the African Champions League as representatives of Egyptian football, while Al-Ahly and Zed will compete in the African Confederation Cup.
The African Football Confederation had previously rejected the proposal submitted by the Egyptian Football Association regarding increasing the number of Egyptian clubs participating in the African Champions League and the Confederation Cup, so the participation system will remain unchanged in the next edition.
