Moscow, Russia – Russian authorities announced that a fire at the Antipinsky refinery in the Tyumen region, Russia’s largest independent oil refining facility, has been extinguished. This came hours after the fire broke out in one of its facilities.
control the fire
The Russian news agency RIA Novosti quoted the Ministry of Emergency Situations as saying that firefighters had completely
extinguished the blaze and prevented it from spreading to other units within the refinery, with no casualties reported.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations explained that firefighting operations continued until the fire was fully under control.
Meanwhile, technical teams continued their inspection and assessment work to ensure the safety of the facilities and equipment affected by the incident.
The Antipinsky refinery is one of the most important facilities in the Russian energy sector.
It plays a crucial role in oil refining and supplying markets with petroleum products.
Investigations reveal the cause of the accident
Local authorities confirmed that initial investigations revealed the fire was caused
by “operational malfunctions” in one of the refinery’s processing units.
They indicated that specialized teams are working to determine the technical
details of the incident and take the necessary measures to prevent its recurrence.
They added that work is underway to assess the extent of the damage
and return the affected units to service in accordance with established safety standards.
Russian authorities denied reports suggesting the refinery may have been attacked by Ukrainian drones.
They also confirmed that the fire was not related to any military or security activity.
The incident comes at a time when Russia’s energy infrastructure is under close scrutiny due to the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
Furthermore, the conflict has been accompanied by reciprocal attacks on critical infrastructure in recent months.
