Brussels, European Union – The European Union affirmed that the best way to reduce the threat posed by Hezbollah is to strengthen Lebanese state institutions.
It also stressed the need to bolster their capacity to extend their authority and maintain security and stability in the country.
Additional support for the Lebanese army
The European Union announced that its member states have agreed to provide an additional €100 million in support to the Lebanese Armed Forces.
This comes as part of efforts to strengthen the Lebanese army’s capabilities and enable it to fulfill its security and defense duties.
The EU explained that this assistance is part of a European policy
aimed at supporting Lebanon’s stability and strengthening its legitimate institutions.
In doing so, it contributes to addressing the security and economic challenges facing the country.
The European bloc stressed that building strong and effective state institutions is fundamental to achieving long-term security and stability.
It also emphasized the importance of supporting Lebanese security forces so
they can fulfill their role in protecting the borders and maintaining public order.
European commitment to Lebanon’s stability
He added that the international community continues to work with the Lebanese authorities to strengthen
their institutional capacities and provide the necessary support for implementing the required reforms.
This effort aims to achieve sustainable stability.
The European Union reaffirmed its continued commitment to supporting Lebanon in facing current challenges.
It noted that strengthening the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces is
a key element in international efforts to maintain security and prevent escalation.
The bloc also reiterated its support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
