Tokyo, Japan – Official images taken inside Toyota’s headquarters in Japan have revealed the design of the next-generation Corolla.
This comes as part of a comprehensive development project
aimed at keeping pace with the rapid changes in the global automotive industry.
There are also plans to offer the car in nine different body styles,
including sedan, hatchback, touring, and crossover.
Additionally, the lineup will include a sporty GR version.
Comprehensive development to meet competition
Footage from a documentary broadcast by Japan’s NHK showed behind-the-scenes footage of the new car’s development.
Cameras were granted access to development meetings and prototype testing sites.
Meetings where senior executives make decisions regarding product launches were also covered.
In addition, an extensive interview with Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda was featured.
Toyota is developing a new platform that can be used in gasoline, hybrid, and electric vehicles.
The goal is to shorten development times and respond quickly to market demands.
This comes amidst intensive discussions among engineering teams
regarding implementation mechanisms and technical challenges.

Corolla at an intersection
Launched in 1966, the Corolla is Toyota’s best-selling car of all time, with sales exceeding 57 million units worldwide.
However, the company believes the model is currently at a critical juncture
due to increasing competition from companies like Tesla in the US and BYD in China.
These companies are adopting a faster pace of developing new models and technologies.
Toyota has emphasized that continuing to rely on traditional methods is
no longer sufficient to maintain its leading position in the global market.
A strategy for the future
The company aims to build a flexible production base based on a unified platform that accommodates various powertrains.
This will allow for the development of vehicles powered by gasoline engines, hybrid systems, or electric vehicles.
It will also reduce development time and improve efficiency.
Toyota believes that the success of the new Corolla project will be crucial to maintaining its competitiveness in the coming years.
This comes amidst the rapid transformations taking place in the global automotive sector,
and the industry’s move towards electrification, digitalization, and smart technologies.
