Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) called on the UN Security Council to take decisive action to end what it described as “Iranian aggression.”

The Council stressed that the continuation of these attacks threatens the security

and stability of the region and increases the risk of escalating conflict in the Middle East.

The need for international community action

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in an official statement, affirmed that the recent military escalation necessitates

a unified international stance that guarantees respect for international law and protects the security and sovereignty of states.

It also stressed the need for the international community to act to contain

the crisis and prevent the region from sliding into a wider confrontation.

Such a confrontation would have serious repercussions for regional and international security.

The GCC noted that the repeated attacks undermine efforts toward de-escalation and political solutions.

It called on the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and take practical steps to halt the violations.

Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of contributing to the maintenance of

international maritime security and the stability of global energy markets.

Prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) reiterated the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy to resolve disputes.

It also stressed the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, in order to achieve security and stability for the peoples of the region.

This call comes amidst escalating military tensions in the Middle East.

This is occurring against a backdrop of international warnings about the widening scope of the confrontation and its repercussions on the global economy and regional security.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts continue to de-escalate the situation and prevent the crisis from worsening.
