  • Call for cooperation with inspectors

Vienna, Austria – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) warned that the lack of access to certain sites within Iran raises growing concerns about nuclear proliferation.

It stressed that continued monitoring and inspections are essential to ensuring the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities.

The importance of access to nuclear sites

The IAEA explained that its inspectors’ access to relevant sites and facilities is a crucial part of the international verification system.

This system aims to monitor nuclear activities and ensure that states comply

with their commitments under applicable agreements and safeguards.

The IAEA stressed that any restrictions on inspections or difficulties in accessing requested sites could affect

its ability to provide comprehensive and accurate technical assessments of the nature of nuclear activities.

The agency noted that the lack of access to some sites raises concerns about nuclear proliferation.

Furthermore, this increases the challenges associated with technical verification and follow-up processes.

Call for cooperation with inspectors

She added that transparency and full cooperation with international inspection teams remain fundamental pillars for building confidence.

This cooperation helps prevent the escalation of international concerns about nuclear programs.

The IAEA reiterated its call for full cooperation with its inspectors.

It also called for providing the necessary access to carry out verification

and monitoring tasks in accordance with established legal and technical frameworks.

She emphasized that continued communication and cooperation

between the Agency and Member States contributes to supporting nuclear non-proliferation efforts.

It also enhances security and stability at both the regional and international levels.
