Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybha affirmed that his country’s diplomatic missions abroad must continue their work without any retreat or “surrender” to Russian pressure,
emphasizing that diplomacy represents a parallel front no less important
than the military field in light of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
He explained that maintaining an active Ukrainian presence in international capitals is
a fundamental element in confronting the political and media challenges posed by the conflict.
Continued Ukrainian diplomatic presence
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted that Ukraine embassies play a pivotal role in explaining Kyiv’s position
to friendly and allied nations and in working to strengthen political, humanitarian, and economic support.
He added that any decline in the performance of foreign missions
would diminish Ukraine ability to influence international public opinion,
which is precisely what Moscow seeks to achieve through its relentless pressure on the diplomatic front.
Countering Russian pressure abroad
The Ukraine Foreign Minister stressed that his country is facing a multidimensional war
that extends beyond military operations to include the diplomatic and media spheres,
where Russia is working to undermine international support for Kyiv.
He affirmed that instructions given to foreign missions are clear: they must continue to operate
with high efficiency and not succumb to any attempts to weaken Ukraine’s role abroad.
Strengthening international action for Ukraine
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted that the Ukrainian government has
recently intensified its diplomatic efforts in various international organizations,
particularly the United Nations and the European Union, to garner further political and humanitarian support.
He affirmed that Kyiv is committed to strengthening its international
partnerships and expanding the circle of supporting countries,
thereby ensuring continued pressure on Moscow and maintaining
the diplomatic momentum in support of its position in the ongoing conflict.
