Washington, United States – US President Donald Trump sent a message to Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, during which he stressed that the United States supports Syria’s efforts towards achieving stability and rebuilding state institutions. At the same time, he stressed that the continuation of this support is linked to the implementation of political and security reforms. In addition, he linked American support to strengthening cooperation with the international community.
Trump explained that the US administration is closely following developments in Syria. He also expressed his hope that the next stage will witness practical steps that contribute to establishing security, combating terrorism, and achieving stability, which will reflect positively on the Syrian people and the entire region.
The US president indicated that Washington views the current phase as an opportunity to reshape relations with Damascus, provided the Syrian government commits to the path of reform and respects its international obligations. He also affirmed that the United States will continue to coordinate with its regional and international partners to support any efforts that achieve peace and stability.
This message comes at a time of rapid developments in US-Syrian relations. This follows steps taken by Washington to ease some restrictions imposed on Damascus, as part of a new approach aimed at encouraging stability and gradual opening, while continuing to emphasize the necessity of adhering to reforms and combating terrorism.
