  • Supporting a sustainable agreement that addresses the root causes of the regional crisis
  • Continued close consultation between Oman and Doha

Amman, Jordan – Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, held an extensive telephone conversation on Tuesday with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss the rapidly evolving regional de-escalation efforts. Both sides began the call by reaffirming the deep-rooted and fraternal historical ties between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Qatar. They also emphasized the shared and unwavering commitment of the leadership of both brotherly countries to strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation across various vital sectors and fields. This serves the common interests of both peoples and reinforces the framework of joint Arab action.

Supporting a sustainable agreement that addresses the root causes of the regional crisis

The telephone conversation between Safadi and Bin Abdulrahman focused on the complex geopolitical and security developments in the region, with particular emphasis on the latest developments and progress of the internationally brokered ceasefire agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. They also reviewed regional and international diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the current military escalation. Both ministers stressed the paramount importance of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable diplomatic agreement. Such an agreement would guarantee the consolidation of security and stability in the Gulf region and the entire Middle East. It would also address, fundamentally and definitively, all the root causes of the current crisis. This would prevent a recurrence of military escalations, which have begun to threaten the security and stability of shipping lanes and global energy supplies.

Continued close consultation between Oman and Doha

At the conclusion of the call, both sides agreed to maintain close political coordination and consultation between Amman and Doha in the coming period to address the challenges. They also commended Qatar’s pivotal role in regional mediation efforts. Furthermore, they affirmed the convergence of Jordanian and Qatari perspectives on the necessity of prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic means to defuse regional crises and protect the security of the region’s peoples from the repercussions of war.
