Beirut, Lebanon – In a new and serious violation of the ceasefire understandings, the Israeli army issued new forced displacement orders on Tuesday targeting a number of villages and towns in southern Lebanon and the western Bekaa Valley, which threatens a new wave of displacement amid the continuation of military operations that have not stopped despite the declaration of a ceasefire.

Evacuation orders in the South and Bekaa

Field sources and Al Jazeera reported that the latest Israeli warnings targeted four major towns in southern Israel: Arzon, Tyre, Bazouriyeh, and Al-Housh. The Israeli army ordered residents of these areas to evacuate immediately, warning of imminent military operations against what it described as “military targets” in those locations.

The escalation did not stop at the southern borders, but extended to the depths of the western Bekaa, where the Israeli army issued a direct threat to the residents of the town of Sahmar, calling on them to evacuate their homes and move at least a thousand meters away from the targeted sites, which caused panic and confusion among the residents who had hoped for the truce to stabilize.

Outcome of military operations

In a related development, the Israeli army released an official statement today detailing the results of its operations since the ceasefire agreement.

The army claimed to have “eliminated” more than 350 Hezbollah operatives through intensive airstrikes targeting over 1,100 locations across Lebanon.

These developments on the ground reinforce fears of a complete collapse of the ceasefire agreement, as observers believe that the expansion of displacement orders to include new towns in the south and the Bekaa reflects an Israeli insistence on changing the reality on the ground by force, regardless of existing diplomatic paths, which puts Lebanon in front of a new chapter of displacement and destruction.
