Beirut, Lebanon – The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that seven people were killed and 15 others wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting the town of Siksikieh in southern Lebanon.

This comes amid ongoing military escalation along the border between the two sides.

In a statement, the ministry said that ambulance and civil defense teams worked to transport the wounded to nearby hospitals.

The removal of debris and assessment of the damage to the targeted residential areas are also continuing.

Raids escalate in southern Lebanon

In recent days, southern Lebanon has witnessed an intensification of Israeli airstrikes,

coinciding with an exchange of fire and rocket launches across the border.

This has resulted in civilian casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure and property.

Local sources reported that the airstrike on the town of Siksikiyah targeted a populated area,

causing panic among residents and prompting many families to flee their homes to safer areas.

Relief and rescue efforts

Lebanese civil defense teams confirmed they are continuing search operations around the targeted site to ensure no one remains missing under the rubble.

Meanwhile, hospitals in southern Lebanon have declared a state of emergency to receive the injured and provide them with necessary medical care.

Lebanese authorities have also called on humanitarian organizations to support relief efforts.

This comes amid escalating humanitarian needs for civilians affected by the ongoing bombardment.

Fears of a wider confrontation

The continued military escalation is raising growing concerns about a wider confrontation on the Lebanese-Israeli border,

especially given the recent increase in airstrikes and retaliatory strikes.

International actors have repeatedly called for restraint and a cessation of hostilities.

However, they have also warned of serious humanitarian and security repercussions that could further destabilize the region.
