Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Abu Dhabi Centre for Project and Infrastructure (ADCP) and the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA) announced an increase in the use of locally produced building materials in the emirate’s housing projects to 80% of the total materials used.
This initiative is part of efforts to support the national industrial sector and enhance the sustainability of local supply chains.
The announcement was made during the “Made in the UAE 2026” exhibition.
Both parties emphasized that the move aims to support local manufacturers and suppliers,
as well as to boost the industrial sector’s contribution to major development projects.
Supporting national industry and diversifying the economy
Both parties explained that increased reliance on local products will contribute
to the development of the industrial sector and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.
It will also provide more sustainable and cost-effective housing projects.
This cooperation is part of a long-term strategy aimed at strengthening coordination among government entities.
It also aims to increase the contribution of national industries to the implementation of vital projects within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Engineer Maysara Mahmoud Eid, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Center for Projects and Infrastructure,
stated that the cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority represents
an important step in strengthening the role of local industry in the project development system.
He added that sourcing 80% of building materials locally enhances the resilience of supply chains
and supports the continued implementation of infrastructure projects according to the highest standards.
Quality and efficiency standards
For his part, Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority,
affirmed that expanding local sourcing enhances the efficiency of supply chains
and reduces reliance on external sources, thus ensuring the long-term stability of housing projects.
The event also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties.
The memorandum aims to increase the use of building materials manufactured within the UAE,
support local manufacturers, and streamline procurement procedures for housing projects.
Under the memorandum, the relevant authorities will work to implement housing projects
with greater efficiency and sustainability, in accordance with approved standards.
This will bolster the UAE’s drive towards economic diversification and solidify the industrial sector’s role in supporting sustainable development.
