Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi government spokesman confirmed that the government has not given any approval to carry out attacks on specific sites or groups within Iraqi territory, stressing Baghdad’s commitment to its sovereignty and its rejection of the use of its territory to carry out military operations by any party.

Affirmation of Iraqi sovereignty

The spokesperson clarified that the government’s position remains firm in preserving Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,

and that any military or security operations within the country must be conducted in accordance

with the Iraqi constitution and laws, in a manner that safeguards national security and prevents any violations of sovereignty.

He indicated that the government has not issued any approvals or agreements authorizing attacks targeting sites or groups within Iraqi territory.

Refusal to use Iraqi territory

The Iraqi government reiterated its rejection of using its territory as an arena for settling scores or launching attacks between external parties,

emphasizing that Iraq’s security and sovereignty are a priority and that Baghdad continues to work to prevent any escalation that could threaten internal or regional stability.

It also stressed the importance of all parties respecting international law and the principles of good neighborliness, which contributes to preventing the widening of tensions in the region.

A call for respect for international law

The Iraqi government spokesperson affirmed that Baghdad is maintaining contact with relevant parties to preserve the country’s security and stability,

emphasizing the necessity of respecting Iraq’s sovereignty and refraining from any military operations within its territory without the approval of Iraqi authorities.

This statement comes amidst escalating regional tensions, as the Iraqi government reiterates its commitment to taking all necessary measures

to protect its territory and prevent any violations that infringe upon its sovereignty or threaten its national security.
