Amman, Jordan – The Jordanian Armed Forces announced a large-scale military and security operation along its northern border, targeting sites belonging to arms and drug smuggling networks. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to protect national security and prevent the infiltration of illicit materials into the country.
A military source explained that the preemptive operation followed the detection of increased activity by these networks. The source also indicated that the targets were engaged with high precision, resulting in the destruction of several sites used for storage and launching operations. In addition, several smuggling attempts across the border were thwarted.
The Jordanian Armed Forces confirmed that these movements are part of the Kingdom’s “deterrence” strategy in confronting cross-border threats. This comes especially in light of the escalating activity of organized smuggling gangs exploiting the turbulent regional situation.
The statement indicated that Jordan will not tolerate any attempts to undermine its security and stability. It also affirmed the continuation of field operations and coordination with security agencies to track down these networks and dismantle their funding sources.
Observers believe this operation reflects a shift towards intensified border security measures. This comes amid a more decisive approach to addressing threats, fueled by growing concerns about the spread of drugs and illicit weapons in the region.
This move comes in the context of escalating security challenges along the northern border. Consequently, this situation is prompting Amman to bolster its military readiness and intensify border surveillance to ensure the protection of its territory and the safety of its citizens.
