Paris, France – Real Madrid continued to strengthen its ranks during the summer transfer market, after announcing on Thursday the official signing of French defender Ibrahima Konate on a four-year contract.
Real Madrid explained in a statement on its official website that Konate will wear the Real Madrid jersey until June 30, 2030, after reaching a final agreement between the two parties, to join the coach’s squad in preparation for the new season.
The French defender’s move to the Santiago Bernabeu came after the expiration of his contract with Liverpool, making him available on a free transfer, amid interest from a number of top European clubs in acquiring his services.
Konate is Real Madrid’s third signing during the current summer transfer window, following the acquisition of Spaniard Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, and Portuguese Bernardo Silva, who joined after the end of his contract with Manchester City.
The 27-year-old French defender boasts extensive experience at both the domestic and international levels. He is also currently part of the French national team squad for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
In a related context, reports continue to link Real Madrid with the signing of Dutchman Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan, but the Spanish club has not yet issued any official announcement regarding the deal.
