Islamabad, Pakistan – Amidst intensive diplomatic efforts to bolster regional stability, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. The call focused on the implications of the recent ceasefire between the United States and Iran. They also discussed Manama’s pivotal role in maintaining regional equilibrium during the past few weeks, which have witnessed a dangerous military escalation.

Appreciating Bahrain’s wisdom in confronting the attacks

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep appreciation for the “exemplary restraint” shown by the Bahraini leadership in response to Iranian attacks targeting the region over the past six weeks. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif commended King Hamad bin Isa’s wisdom in handling the provocations. He stated that this responsible stance prevented the region from sliding into a full-blown war with disastrous consequences. Sharif also offered his sincere condolences to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the loss of “precious lives” in the recent hostilities and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Royal appreciation for the success of Pakistani mediation

For his part, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa expressed his deep appreciation to the Pakistani Prime Minister. He congratulated Islamabad on its historic success in brokering a ceasefire between Tehran and Washington. The Bahraini monarch affirmed that this step has created “real prospects for lasting peace” in the Middle East. He also emphasized Manama’s full support for all efforts undertaken by Pakistan to solidify this diplomatic path.

Ongoing coordination for stability

At the conclusion of their cordial conversation, the two leaders agreed to continue working together and coordinating efforts to ensure regional stability. This call comes at a sensitive time, as Pakistan seeks to garner Arab and Gulf support for its sponsored “Ten-Point Agreement.” The aim is to ensure the ceasefire’s resilience in the face of challenges on the ground. Observers believe that Pakistan’s praise for Bahrain’s position reflects the depth of the alliance between the two countries and underscores Manama’s crucial role in shaping the future of security in the Arabian Gulf region.
